How global warming affects agriculture

Nic Tabb- Good information
Although there would be a longer growing season and a chance of more rain, scientists predict that the rain would evaporate faster which would kill the plants due to not getting enough water. Scientists predict that by the year 2060 there will be a 7% increase in precipitation and a 5 degree increase in temperature. Not only would water evaporate faster, but the weather would dramatically change also. Massive storms would follow major droughts and would be more unpredictable than daily weather in Illinois. Also with an increase in heat the seed that the crop has sprouted from will grow to quickly and not have enough time to mature properly. In an instance like this agriculture and economy go hand and hand. According to the EPA, agriculture contributes more than $200,000,000,000 to the economy every year. With Global Warming increasing the growth of crops will decrease and the economy can crash.

How can we help stop global warming?

The 3 R's would be a great place to start. "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" and you can start doing your part to help the environment. You can also purchase organic local produce to help support your local farmers and to not burn the gas used to have transported across the nation/world. You can also do something as easy as purchasing a re-usable bag at the store. These are just a few of the thousands of things you can do to help the world. Just because global warming may not directly affect you, it will probably affect your grand children or your great grand children.
